As we demonstrate the grace of God as described by Jesus in Matthew 25, verses 34 to 40, we welcome those who have a passion to effectively help us as we share the love and grace of God to our hurting and troubled friends in the Street Community. We have listed below ways you can help us in our mission to Share God’s message of Hope, Deliverance & Victory to our brothers and sisters living on the margins, but wanting to live well in a world of chaos where Christ Has All Our Solutions. Here are some of the ways you can help:
By Praying With and For Us
As a different kind of church whose focus is on broken and hurting people it is most imperative that Jacob’s Well be a house of prayer. As a house of prayer when people come to the Well they will experience the living waters of Christ Jesus.
By Visiting Us
By visiting us and seeing first hand what we
There are three ways to give:
By Providing A Meal
Jacob’s Well provides a dinner every Saturday for all who come to the Saturday Night Experience. Our goal is to provide a wholesome dinner in a welcoming environment. We welcome Families, Churches, organizations and businesses who want to provide a meal. If, after trying it once, you find that it works for you or your group to continue, we have a sign up calendar with the options to provide a meal one time, monthly or quarterly. Any choice would be greatly appreciated. The basic routine is to procure and prepare the meal at home or on sight. work with the servers to serve the meals, clean any pots or utensils, dispose of any trash, leaving the kitchen clean. If you bring volunteers to serve with you that will be fine.
As A Greeter and Server
As a most important act of our hospitality, we invite and welcome friends who will help us as greeters and servers for our Saturday Night Experience.
As greeters, we ask that you welcome our guest as they come into the building offering them hand sanitizer, direct them to the restrooms and guide them to the sanctuary. As servers, we ask that you:1) check to make sure tablecloths are clean. 2) Set the napkins and flatware on the tables 3) Pour and distribute drinks and 4) serve the meals.
In Community Outreach
In 1869 a hymn by Katherem Hankey was included in the hymnal of the Methodist Episcopal Church entitled “I Love to Tell the Story. “The song included in it’s refrain, “I love to tell the story, ’twill be my theme in glory, To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love. At Jacob’s Well Memphis the message of reconciliation, rehabilitation and reciprocation is a message that we want to share with not only the homeless and people in recovery, but for anyone wanting to experience transformation and renewal in their life. We welcome people who would like to help us tell the story of God’s message of hope, deliverance & Victory.
